Ocean Mural - A Little Progress This Week

Got a good start on the Skechers Ocean Mural this week! Kicking off with the sea floor. Here are some of it's creatures coming to life....

Getting Started On New Ocean Mural

We are so excited to begin our next mosaic mural - a lush ocean scene in stained glass for Skechers store in Manhattan Beach! We put the mural template together this week and cut up the mural sections so we can create it in the studio first. The design celebrates the local Roundhouse Aquarium that Skechers' president is helping to renovate and depicts sea life native to Southern California. Stay tuned for more info on the project and progress pics to come! 

Community Mosaic At UCSF This Weekend!

Come help us create 6 beautiful mosaic planters that will adorn the UCSF Medical Center's Fitness Center! The designs are playful native California flowers in stained glass and mirror. This will be the last weekend to help make them. We will teach you how to cut and place the glass and no experience is needed to jump in. It will be a fun event! Ages 13 and up.

If taking public transport - Muni will take you to the 500 Parnassus Ave address. When you walk in, you will see an info desk. The Ocean View Room is to the right of the Info desk. 

If Driving - There is a parking garage right before the entrance at 500 Parnassus St with a large blue sign. Once parked take Elevator F (NOT the main elevator) up to floor B1. There will be signs directing you to the Ocean View Room that is up one more level to Floor 1.  See the parking garage map is below for your reference.

Mosaic Flower Installation at Sylmar Square

Our Sylmar Square flowers are up! Rachel and her colleague Sophia Othman flew down to LA last week to install them and finish up the lizard sculpture. Just for fun, we are sharing the installation journey in pictures.

Lizzie Sculpture Underway!

The whole team flew down to Los Angeles for a week to work on Lizzie - the pet name for our new sculpture relief fountain that will soon live at Sylmar Square Shopping Center. It was so, so hot! Mist bottle in hand, we cranked up the tunes, turned up the fan and persevered. A couple of us will be headed back in a few weeks to get the sculpture on the wall and fish her up!
